Senior Software Engineer

Responsible for analyzing, developing, testing, deploying and supporting highly complex application software. Determine solutions for applications by providing necessary designs and technical expertise to the development team. Investigate and analyze verbal and written requests for application software, interpreting application requirements to design highly complex applications. Perform object-oriented analysis and design, applying software design principles to satisfy application requirements. Develop and execute application test plans, analyze test results, and make appropriate revisions to ensure the applications function as specified. Create working prototypes to support the research and development objectives of the department, using emerging technologies. Create continuous integration and continuous delivery(CI/CD) pipelines. Create and automate build and deployment process scripts. Work closely with architects/designers to design and implement reusable system solutions, including release and data pipelines. Work with the technical project manager to ensure that the project plan is on track by advising on risks and quality. Provide project updates to management. Involves domestic travel approximately 2x/year for up to 1 week/trip Tools used: Python, Shell/Bash Script, Java, C++, RESTful, Oracle, Postgres, PL/SQL, Web Services, Amazon Web Services (AWS), AWS EC2, AWS Lambda, AWS CloudFormation, AWS RDS, AWS CloudWatch, ELB, Route 53, AWS CLI, Terraform, Ansible, Atlassian tool suite, SVN, Bit Bucket, Gitlab, Github, Chef, JFrog, Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.





Minimum requirements:  Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with a technology focus (foreign equivalent degree acceptable) plus 3 years of experience in software development (would also accept a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience in software development).  This must include 3 years of experience in: Devops engineer working on continuous integration and continuous delivery(CI/CD); Infrastructure as a code for cloud automation unix/linux, shell scripting, python, AWS security tool, and AWS Inspector and/or  Twistlock; Configuration management tool; Chef cloud monitoring using cloud watch; Cloud-based application stack automation using Terraform; developing and deploying applications to the Cloud; using  PL/SQL to develop Extract Transform Load (ETL) applications on databases such as Oracle and/or Postgres; software development tools for version control and continuous integration such as Gitlabs, Bit Bucket; Use of analytical and problem-solving skills to solve complex design and deployment problems; working as a member of a team; Implementation of Jenkins pipeline for deployment. 1 year of experience in: using Kubernetes, Terraform, Python, Shell Scripting, AWS CloudFormation, Airflow orchestration; and building transient and scalable infrastructure with AWS and Docker images. Cloud Tech Stack technologies, including AWS EC2, AWS Lambda, ECS, AWS S3, AWS CLI, VPC, Route 53, ELB, AWS Cloud Watch and AWS RDS.
