The Senior Systems Administrator manages an IT Infrastructure environment as part of a team responsible for multiple data centres. Work is primarily remote, with on-premise visits and after hours as needed, and includes participation in an on-call rotation. 



  • Plan/Design – identify opportunities for improvement. Input to budget planning. Anticipate, gather, and accommodate Infrastructure requirements from stakeholders

  • Build – execute project and on demand implementation tasks

  • Secure – ensure Cybersecurity standards are met and maintained

  • Fix – act on alerts and participate in managing issues assigned via ticket queue(s)

  • Change – implement change on demand, and/or via planned activities

  • Decommission – identify and eliminate obsolete/outdated technology


The Senior Systems Administrator will be directly responsible for technologies including:

  • Data center – multiple Co-location facilities

  • Server – Dell hardware, Linux and Windows, VMware, scripting

  • Automation / Management – Chef, Terraform, Tanium, Microsoft WSUS

  • Monitoring / Alerting – Icinga, LogicMonitor, PagerDuty, Graylog, Splunk

  • Miscellaneous – Digital Certificates, F5 Load Balancing, Infoblox, Security tools


The Senior Systems Administrator will also work with:

  • Network – primarily Cisco switching and routing, various firewalls

  • Storage – NetApp and EMC storage arrays, Veritas NetBackup

  • Database – Oracle, MongoDB, Microsoft SQL, Cassandra

  • Application – Apache, Tomcat

  • Tools and processes – Jira, ServiceNow, Confluence, SAP, Agile


The Senior Systems Administrator will take a leadership role in:

  • Mentoring other team members

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders and colleagues

  • Engaging vendors for procurement and support 



  • Bachelor’s/Associate’s degree in IT/IS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years of enterprise server administration, with progressive responsibilities

  • Current relevant certifications will be an asset

  • Demonstrated experience in proactive ownership of many of the listed technologies

  • Excellent problem solving, prioritizing, troubleshooting, and risk management skills
